ANNUAL REPORT 12TH NOVEMBER 2015
Uckington & Elmstone Hardwicke WI has been pretty busy since our AGM last year and this is a reminder of what we have been up to.
At our monthly meetings we have been entertained by various means and methods and, it has to be said, with varying degrees of entertainment! It all started with our Christmas meeting in December when we had the Wide Valley Singers which was followed in January by a Beetle Drive - great fun and as we had 4 or 5 visitors it made for an excellent way for them to meet our members and, for our members to meet them. Over the next 3 months we had speakers telling us about the 'History of Mr Punch', the John Moore Museum and 'Cider with Rosie' followed in May by our 'Member's Night', when some of our members showed us their own hidden talents. In June we learnt about some 'Historical Men of Gloucester' and in July we were told by Trish Tenn that we must 'never plonk again'. No meeting in August but in September we had a 'quilling' demonstration and in October we learnt quite a lot about the Land Girls in a rather unique way.
And now some of the other things we have been up to during this 12 month period -
Our walking group trudges on and this year we have walked along the Coombe Hill Nature Reserve; over Cleeve Hill and around Uckington & Elmstone Hardwicke, Prestbury racecourse, Pittville Park, Gloucester Docks and Winchcombe (twice).
Phew............................what a year!

And now some of the other things we have been up to during this 12 month period -
- November (last year but after the AGM) we had a Tombola stall at the village hall annual Craft Fair
- December you donated very generously to the 'Open Door' charity which we support each year and we also enjoyed a Christmas lunch at 'The House in the Tree'
- January and we were invited to Sandhurst WI's meeting
- February we were invited to Norton WI's meeting
- March we had the Annual Council Meeting at the Town Hall and also we welcomed the Centenary Baton to Uckington & Elmstone Hardwicke as it toured the County
- April was the time for our annual Cotswold Vale Group Rally which was hosted by Norton WI, we had 2 teams in the first round of the County Quiz and we also had a 'dabble' workshop
- May we were invited to Tredington & Stoke Orchard 'Posh' tea
- June saw some us enjoying lunch at the Toby Carvery, Peggy attending the Centenary Garden Party at Buckingham Palace, Alexis attending the NFWI Annual Meeting at the Royal Albert Hall and one of our teams taking part in the second round of the County Quiz - unfortunately they got no further but, there's always next time!!
- July was Verina's coffee morning and also a group of us visited the Gloucestershire Federation's centenary exhibition at Gloucester Folk Museum
- August was the month for our outing and this year Peggy arranged for us to have a boat trip from Gloucester Docks with a cream tea on board, this was enjoyed by all who went despite the grey weather
- September we celebrated the WI Centenary with a Group Afternoon Tea at Sandhurst and an evening meal, just for us, at Brickhampton Court
- October we had a small Sugarcraft workshop and also Kim (with a little help from her friends) held an incredibly successful Bingo & Curry evening - wow, what a good night it was and it certainly helped to swell our funds.
Our walking group trudges on and this year we have walked along the Coombe Hill Nature Reserve; over Cleeve Hill and around Uckington & Elmstone Hardwicke, Prestbury racecourse, Pittville Park, Gloucester Docks and Winchcombe (twice).
